Java : Yogkyakarta Caving, Borodudur and Bromo Adventure

Yogyakarta – a place that alludes mystery and cultural depth. In fact, we immerse in its impelling culture on the very first day itself – we will get to visit the beautiful Prambanan temple complex :the largest Hindu temple compound in Indonesia and a UNESCO World Heritage site. This trip also takes us to the astonishing  Borobudur temple complex, the famous 9th Century Budhist temple and art markets in the area.

But cultural immersion is not the only thing we have on our agenda.  Although Java has an exquisite diversity of terrains above ground, many natural wonders also lie in its depths. The Gunung Kidul terrain is made of limestone, and its soluble nature has led to the formation of unusual caves with underground rivers flowing through its insides. First, we will be visiting a vertical cave set deep in the heart of the Sewu Karst Mountain range, where we will be slowly lowered to the bottom with a rope. Its bowels hide a hauntingly beautiful landscape – a lush primeval forest, specked with moss and shrubs.Welcome to Jomblang Cave.

We will also be able to visit a second cave – Gua Pindul. This will offer a different kind of adventure – equipped with just a lifebelt, life-vest and a headlamp, feel the rush as you zoom down the underground river and admire its fascinating interior decorated with stalagmites and stalactites.

Mount Bromo is yet another highlight on this trip - an active volcano at 2329m that lies on a stretch of plains known as the Sea of Sand. Nestled inside the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, located between the regencies of Malang and Lumajang. With rolling mists wrapped snugly around its foot, its dramatic setting is the source of many myths and legends. Climb to the summit in time to catch sun rise and gaze in wonder as the first beams of sun light up the incredible landscape beneath and beyond.

For a trip with the perfect balance between cultural absorption and exciting adventure, look no further. Sign up now to experience some of the greatest treasures of Java.
