Sri Lankan Big
5 Safari

The tiny island of Sri Lanka may well be the best safari destination beyond Africa. They not only have their own big 5 – five larger-than-life animals – but also offers an excellent strike rate and a chance to see them all in 7 days!

So grab your binoculars, your khaki clothes and your spiffy sun-hat. The first two days you will be going in seek of the magnificent blue whale – the largest mammal on the planet – and the enigmatic Sperm Whale off the coast of Mirissa. You’ll also be able to spot Spinner Dolphins! Located near the town of Galle, you will also have time to explore some of the country’s colonial and Dutch heritage by visiting the Old Dutch Fort after your adventure cruise.

The next day, you will be transferred to the Yala National Park - a beautiful area of lowland dry scrub. The star of Sri Lanka’s premier national park is the Sri Lankan leopard, a sub-species endemic to Sri Lanka. In some areas of the park, the density of leopard is 1 cat to every square kilometer! Of course, that’s not all the park has to offer. There are wild elephants, sloth bear, 220 different types of birds, and many more.

With Sri Lanka being ranked in the top 25 hot spots for biodiversity, it is no surprise that it offers the ultimate island safari experience for wildlife lovers.
